I cut cucumbers for my son...
Today, I cut up cucumbers for my toddler for him to eat with this dinner. And while I made food for myself, he promptly threw them in the trash.
I took a deep breath to calm myself after an already stressful day and then I heard the dreaded words: "Mom, I want some cucumbers."
Don't get me wrong, I love my children but days like this are hard. And I know I'm not the only one. The screaming, crying, resisting naps, sleep regressions, button pushing...
Kids are hard.
But then there are beautiful moments. The times you want to never end. The silence as they sleep in your arms. The excitement in their voice when they want to show you something they learned. The hugs and kisses, the cuddles, the smiles. The firsts.
The moments you'll never forget.
Moms and dads, know that I hear you. I feel you. I've been there!
You are not alone.
I started writing to help young children learn social skills and empathy. But my household isn't perfect either. But know this:
"We can do hard things" -Glennon Doyle
And we don't have to do them perfectly.
